To be Rationally Nonsense
All my lovely readers...... finally I got back the heart to update my dusty blog. Before going into the theme today, I bet (wish) all of you notice the background color has changed. I really really hope the lively color can bring some fresh air to this dying blog. Second thing is I gotta apologize to YOU about not writing for more than a month. Honestly I had tried so fucking many times to write but still I kept on deleting my lines once I started writing again. Please forgive me that I was totally lost in finding the best words to represent me before and hope what I am going to post wont disappoint any one of you. (Oops...sorry again my god damn computer has swollen the Apostrophe mark in case you may find some grammatical mistakes.) Okiessss....Lets cut the bullshit and now I do the real WRITING...
First I wanna say that I LOVE the title for todays post very much: To be Rationally Nonsense. Such a contradictory statement to beautify the ridiculousness of human brains, Hongkongers in particular. (Hong Kong people like distinguishing them from the Mainlanders in order to give themselves a superior identity but sympathetically I am afraid they are the stupidest among the fellows LOL) I guess many people should have been the witnesses of their (own) stupidity even they are Hong Kong people themselves. This is especially true to me after I have started working in the auditing Industry.
Indeed there are many ridiculous NORMS in the industry ONLY in Hong Kong which appear nonsense to foreigners even they are auditors or accountants. (Its true that a friend of mine told me her foreign friend working in PwC does think leaving office at 8pm is already fucking late) For example, members in a team working in client office have to wait for certain timing to come to leave together even some of them have already finished their tasks and only pretend to be working by playing facebook and chatting online. Actually for a few times I was just sitting and kept clicking the keyboard randomly until my brain was totally worn out like a dead battery. In auditing, the so called team work is actually giving you tasks which isnt really your responsibility but the others. So the juniors should never expect they will have nothing to do because the quicker you finish your job, the more difficult and troublesome tasks you gotta deal with even some maybe out of your capability zone and the night will be a tragic ending - OTs. Working overtime may not be a problem if there is any incentives or compensation. Sorry to tell that the Accounting firms, including those BIG ones hiring so many people every year making enormous and rising profits, may be too scared about their ridiculous bonuses and salaries being carved up by thousands of workers so they draw a clear line stating in the contracts that there is no compensation for any overtime work. But in order to show their conscience and care to the poor employees, they may allow little compensation out of their great kindness.
Still maybe you think its rather common phenomenon in Hong Kong. But the shameful facts reported by media should draw your attention to the terrible working culture. Just like the car accident happened almost a year ago due to tiredness resulted from not enough sleeping hours and finally the poor staff died. Most disgusting behavior was the accounting firm, one of big fours, at first refused to admit the fact that the staff were having business trip in Mainland China but having vacation and died because of his own mistake. Even though the firm at last said yes due to pressure around, the act of trying to cover up the scandal in order not to affect its own reputation is really ugly, selfish and totally revealed that people know actually they are sick and nonsense to have workers working like slaves. Besides this tragedy, I am afraid there are also news talking about auditors died suddenly in the middle of night due to too little rest and HARD work. Then they simply had their breaths stopped at such a young age and are never coming back to enjoy their fruitful life, not to even mention the chance to spend their salaries.
Nonsense, nonsense, nonsense..... when nonsense grows in a society and every one starts to believe its the reality, it can be possible for them to even think the Earth is actually a cube, but not a sphere. This totally nonsense reality has bred up crazy Hong Kong people who try to rationalize the NORMS and fix them into their god damn life. I am really amazed by their superior flexibility and acceptance to what they are facing now and how hard they try to convince themselves it is already very lucky not to be choked by food for having only one-hour lunch including all the queuing and waiting time.
When all the others in this world are enjoying premium benefits and salaries by working in such a profession, I wonder why Hong Kong workers (ME) living in such a hell can not to voice up and have no representatives or labor unions to speak for them (ME). I am absolutely clueless why the government has done nothing in protecting employees but just fight for high speed and vigorous financial activities to put its citizens into such a embarrassing situation.
Until now I can only hear negative opinions towards the industry and even seniors or management level are working for MONEY for god sake. In return, they have lost their time and happiness (less hair, worse skin, black eye circles, illnesses should also be taken in account).
I can still remember the recruitment talks held by those big firms claiming how hard they try to offer their employees a balanced work life and produce an image of being socially responsible by showing off their Best Employer Award (Bloody hell). How ugly are all these commercial acts and entities to try to deceive people in a legal way.
When the world is still full of beauty for us to explore, I think time should not be wasted in such a way and suffer from hardship. Human beings may really need obstacles to steel themselves into better persons, but this never includes an imbalanced life both physical and mental ones. To conclude, I really would like to say...... its never too early to leave the industry. Or maybe its never too late to tell we are living in hell and stand up to speak for ourselves.
Phewww......*A BIG SIGH*....... time to sleep and wake up for my fucking employer tomorrow morning. Goodnight guys :) Wordcount up to here is 1127! Bravo!! What a number!!!
